Rocks Project 2018-2019

This University project was inspired by the visual differences in Cornish rocks. I visited Kynance and Pollurian Coves on The Lizard Peninsula which both have amazing coloured serpentine rocks which I tried to replicate in my textile pieces. As well as just using the rocks as inspiration I also collected shells and beach waste from the coves stitching them into my work.

A Celebration of British Baking 2018

I love textiles and I love baking so for this project I combined both of these passions to create a fun collection of fabrics. Britain is known for its traditional bakes like Victoria Sponge and Jammy Dodgers as well as our love for tea so I have used these things as inspiration and translated them into stitched and quilted samples.
Pebbles Print Project 2015

This project was inspired by Pebbles I collected from Polurrian Beach in Mullion. I liked their forms and textures so used different inks and techniques to represent these including collagraph and screen printing.
Playing with Process Project 2016

For this project we had to try a technique we had not used before. Marbling was an example mentioned so this is what I experimented with. I used special marbling ink trying it out on both fabric and paper getting some interesting results. Once dry I pieced the marbled fabrics into a small quilted wall hanging as I did not just want to waste them.
St Michaels Mount Competition Project 2018

This is an embroidery piece I did for my first project on my new BA course at Cornwall College in October 2018. The piece was for a competition St Michaels Mount was running for some new merchandise they could sell on the mount. It had to be inspired by anything we had liked whilst on a field trip to the Mount. On the pebbled pathway up to the castle there is a pebble in the shape of a heart which belongs to a giant so is named the Giants Heart. I love trying to find this pebble everytime I visit the mount so decided to recreate it as an embroidery!
Mullion Cove and Harbour Project 2019

This University project was inspired by my visits to Mullion Cove where I photographed the views, old buildings and boats before re creating the photos as textile pieces. I have used a range of techniques to create these pieces including  free machine stitching, quilting and patchwork as well as rust, lithography and screen printing.
